EVENTS NEWS
Summer festivals may have been cancelled, but there are plenty of virtual alternatives you can watch from home!
I had a wonderfully gruesome evening on 3rd September discussing themes from The Waiting Rooms along with books by fellow authors Lesley Kelly and Julie Anderson, chaired by Dr Jacky Collins. We covered a multitude of topics, from pandemics to plague pits to political power, as well as the curious parallels between our books and life during Covid 19, despite all three thrillers being written before coronavirus.
The event can be viewed on Facebook here .
Thanks so much to everyone who joined, there were some great questions and discussion, and also to Honey & Stag Events for hosting.
I would thoroughly recommend Lesley’s and Julie’s books if you fancy a dark, gripping read!
Lesley’s latest novel in The Health of Strangers series is Death at the Plague Museum.
The North Edinburgh Health Enforcement Team will hunt you down if you miss your monthly Health Check. Dealing with murder, politics and intrigue, the HET's biggest problem is keeping themselves alive. The series is set in a parallel Edinburgh where people are trying to survive a killer virus - it was fiction when it was written!
Julie’s novel, Plague, will be published on 16th September.
Work on a London tube line is halted by the discovery of an ancient plague pit and, within it, a very recent corpse. A day later another body is found, killed in the same way, also in a plague pit. This victim is linked to the Palace of Westminster, where rumours swirl around the Prime Minister and his rivals. As the number of deaths climbs, the media stokes fear. Government assurances are disbelieved. Everyone feels threatened. This has to be resolved and fast.
BeaconLit Book Festival: New Voices Panel has gone virtual!
Watch me being interviewed by BeaconLit’s Dave Sivers along with other debut authors Ruby Speechley and Sophie Ward in the New Voices panel, available to watch below. I must apologise for the phone in the middle… Not exactly slick. No one ever rings the landline, typical!
Next time I’ll unplug! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJj4o2wi6h8
